The Revival of DE BALTISCHE MIDDAG
Join us for vibrant performances from Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania!
The Estonian mezzo-sopraan, Kadri Tegelmann, will take us to her colorful musical journey. As a performer Kadri feels at home in opera as well as chamber and folk music. She has found a way for dissolving borders between different art forms and genres. As an advocate for contemporary music she has worked with theater SILBERSEE; a production centre for unorthodox music and experimental opera where she was part of the award-winning production "Wij gaan op Berenjacht" (with theater Sonnevanck) composed by David Dramm. Kadri Tegelman has performed "Laika" at the Dutch National Opera, worked together with the Dutch ensemble La Sfera Armoniosa and the Estonian Early Music Ensemble Floridante.
Amid the authentic music sound the three “flash” book presentations – Estonian, Latvian and Lithuanian - recently translated into Dutch, will illustrate some historic and cultural background of the Baltic countries. We will hear about “De dood van de perfecte zin” (by Rein Raud), “Moedermelk”(by Nora Ikstena) and “Peters keizerin“ (by Kristina Sabaliauskaitė). The three books will be introduced by the literary translators (respectively) Frans van Nes, Brenda Lelie and Anita van der Molen.
Let us celebrate the Baltic vibes together!
Admission is free.
