Litouws Cultureel Centrum in cooperation with The Lithuanian Film Centre presents the three most original films of famous Lithuanian cineast Algimantas PUIPA - The Devil's Seed 1979, A Woman and Her Four Men 1983 (earlier presented at EUNIC filmdagen) and The Internal Light 1987 - films that have stood the test of time and avoided ideological and artistic clichés and belong to the "Golden Fund" of Lithuanian cinema, and despite the time they were created, may inadvertently resonate with the realities of today.

All three films in this retrospective take a deeper look at the history of Lithuania, albeit at different periods of time. However, it is not the historical, social or political realities that are most important in Puipa's films. That background of the past forms an abutment for his cinema, in order to create a peculiar reality with the features of near-allegory. Universal, philosophical, films of Puipa are understandable even for those who do not boast much historical knowledge of Lithuania. (N. Kažukauskaitė)
