YOUR COUNTRY, YOUR CELEBRATION, May 5-21, 2017 - It is a show of selected work of pupils aged 6 to 18, most of them participants of the "Reaching Out Through Skype" project, uniting nine European schools in the framework of celebrating the European Day of Languages.

All over Europe our calendars are punctuated by a sequence of specific National public days: Kūčios, Christmas, Mother’s or Father’s day, Sinterklaas, Banc Holiday and many more. Do they make us more enthusiastic and committed to our societies or rather make us feel embarrassed about the collective events? Can those days be beneficial for the young people in order to thrive, to practice tolerance and face the challenges of existence?

Without any restriction, the children were invited to participate in this photographic journey and to submit a photo related to their national celebrations or traditions and to write about it. The 2017 addition of "Reaching Out Through Skype" explores personal empowerment of children at a time when stressing "a national feeling" tends to be avoided for fear of being confused with "nationalism", where the feeling of patriotism is becoming a taboo.

The 36 pictures were selected for this touring children’s photo exhibition. The opening will take place on May 05, 2017.
